More birthday

Here are a few more birthday-related snaps.

Presents from Tom: Tickets to see the Book of Mormon. Tickets to Dine Mile High, a themed pop-up restaurant (so much fun, will post about it soon!). Tickets to The Boy Who Climbed Out of His Face, an immersive play by a theatre company called Shunt. I can't tell you any more about it because its all very mysterious, but I'm really excited. And yes, that is a Game of Thrones cookbook. Sandor Clegane's pickled pigs' feet anyone? Sister's stew? Lemon cakes?

On the morning of the day before my birthday, we were lucky enough to go and see a rehearsal of the BBC Proms War Horse Prom at the Royal Albert Hall (my housemate works for the National Theatre, so she was able to get us on the guest list. It was due to be performed the following day to celebrate the centenary of the First World War.

We weren't allowed to take photos during the performance, and I think you will have to wait until December to watch it on television, but I promise it was lovely. The special score included songs from the musical, and performances by the Military Wives Choir. Actors in period costume acted out silent scenes which progressed from being cheerful and merry to dark and hopeless as the war progressed. It was amazing how the music changed the mood and how much feeling came across despite there being no dialogue. And Joey the horse was there! And the goose! It was fascinating to see it being rehearsed, rather than as the final show. The orchestra were all in t-shirts and joggers!

Excellent presents from my brother. The moisturiser, by Murad, is incredible. Seriously mattifying, you can feel it absorbing everything as you put it on and it actually manages to keep shine away.

Gorgeous things from my friend Emily.

That evening I had a few friends over for drinks in the garden before heading to the Bussey Building in Peckham. No snaps of all that I'm afraid, we were too busy playing musical chairs and eating jelly and ice cream...
